FREEMASONRY.

Why YOU should join.

Freemasonry is Universal.

By becoming a Freemason you will be joining a worldwide fraternity with millions of members.

They meet together in Lodges.  You will be able to visit other Lodges in your local town or area and in just about every major town and city in England.  On top of that there are Lodges throughout the rest of the United Kingdom and many, many other countries spread across the globe.

Wherever they choose to visit, Freemasons can be sure of a genuine welcome from their fellow members.  If you move area, perhaps for employment, family or retirement reasons, local Freemasons can provide you with instant, welcoming access to a large part of the local community.

Personal Development.

Freemasonry encourages the personal development of each and every member.

Social skills will inevitably develop in many through meeting and talking to large numbers of people from all walks of life.

Similarly many improve their organisational skills in a variety of ways through participation in the administrative aspects of running their Lodge.

However, perhaps the area in which most advantage is gained is that of self- confidence.  This is achieved by taking an active part in our ceremonies.

Whenever you want to try and do something in Freemasonry, you always find other Masons eager and willing to help if necessary.

Freemasons Care.

It is sometimes forgotten that Freemasons give millions of pounds every year to non masonic charities.  Just one example is that every hospice in the country benefits from our donations.

Freemasons are also committed to caring for each other and their families when help is necessary.

Tragedy and misfortune can, unfortunately, strike any family.  When it does, not only is help available from individual Lodges, assistance can be sought from Masonic charities at regional and national level.

The type of help will, of course, depend on individual circumstances and needs.  It can range from straightforward financial aid, through medical help to ensuring that the children of Freemasons receive an education appropriate to their abilities.

Social Aspects.

Freemasonry provides its members with countless opportunities to make new friends from all walks of life.  They all have a desire to enjoy themselves and help others.

At the local level you will find a wide variety of social events such as informal dining nights, ladies evenings, BBQ's, childrens Christmas parties, bowls and golf tournaments, computer clubs, sportman's dinners and wine tasting evenings.

These are augmented by regional events including the annual ball, caravan and clasic car rallies, clay pigeon shoots and bowls and golf tournaments.

These activities provide ample opportunities for all members of the family to take part, giving all the chance to make new acquaintances and friends.
